Europe was the fastest growing region for cybersecurity hiring among mining industry companies in the three months ending April.
The number of roles in Europe made up 4.6% of total cybersecurity jobs – up from 2.2% in the same quarter last year.
That was followed by Asia-Pacific, which saw a 0.8 year-on-year percentage point change in cybersecurity roles.
The figures are compiled by GlobalData, which tracks the number of new job postings from key companies in various sectors over time. Using textual analysis, these job advertisements are then classified thematically.

Which countries are seeing the most growth for cybersecurity job ads in the mining industry?
The fastest growing country was Romania, which saw 1.1% of all cybersecurity job adverts in the three months ending April 2021, increasing to 3.4% in the three months ending April this year.
That was followed by Canada (up 1.6 percentage points), India (1), and Australia (0.6).
The top country for cybersecurity roles in the mining industry is the US, which saw 45.8% of all roles advertised in the three months ending April.
Which cities are the biggest hubs for cybersecurity workers in the mining industry?
Some 4.7% of all mining industry cybersecurity roles were advertised in Chicago (US) in the three months ending April.
That was followed by Douglas (US) with 4.4%, Broomfield (US) with 4.3%, and East Peoria (US) with 3.5%.
